X Marks the Spot : The Great American Solar Eclipse

Luke 21:25,”And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;”

Many discerning students of end times prophecy have noted, and marveled, at the astronomical signs that God has been sending since the appearance of the 2014-2015 Blood Moon Tetrad. The Great American Solar Eclipse of August 21, 2017 was yet another of those stunning celestial signs to behold. It was named The Great American Eclipse because it was the first total solar eclipse that was visible in the U.S.A. and nowhere else. It was the first total eclipse visible only in the U.S.A. since the country was founded in 1776.

The Great American Eclipse was visible within a band that spanned the entire contiguous United States, passing from the Pacific to Atlantic coasts. Prior to that event, there hadn’t been a total solar eclipse crossing the length of the U.S.A. in nearly 100 years (June 8, 1918). Considering the rarity of these “coast to coast” solar eclipse events, it becomes particularly interesting to discover the next one will arrive very shortly on April 8, 2024, only 7 years from the Aug.21, 2017 event! Although the paths of these two eclipses form an “x” over the U.S., intersecting portions of Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky in 2024, my focus pertains to their timing, the fact that they are spaced 7 years apart.

Could that 7-year timespan be representative of a 2017-2024 70th Week of Daniel? It’s important to note that I view the final 7 years of this age as Daniel’s 70th Week, as opposed to “The Great Tribulation”.

“The Great Tribulation” (Matt.24:21) or “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble” (Dan.12:1; Jer.30:6,7) is a period of time limited to the final 1260 days which culminates with Christ’s Return to the earth.

The Great American Eclipse occurred exactly 33 days before the Rev.12 Sign, beginning in the 33rd state (Oregon), and ending in South Carolina at the 33rd parallel. The last time a total solar eclipse crossed the continental U.S.A. ( June 8, 1918 ) was 99 ( 33 X 3 ) years before the Great American Solar Eclipse.

Ezek.33:3, “If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people:” The trumpets were blown during the two-day Festival of the Feast of Trumpets on Sept.21/22, 2017. According to the Jewish calendar, the eve of Sept.22nd marked the start of Sept.23rd ( The Rev.12 Sign).

The Great American Eclipse + 40 days = Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement). “40” represents a period of testing in the Bible as can be seen in the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, and the 40 days Jesus was tested in the wilderness. Could the 40 days leading up to The Day of Atonement be indicative of the completion of humanity’s probation or testing at the end of this age? Interestingly enough, Yom Kippur is also the speculative end date to the 2017-2024 Tribulation timeline theory.

The Great American Eclipse was seen in the Hebrew Year 5777 (three “7’s” or 21). “7” represents the perfection of God’s plan while “3” symbolizes completion, … a perfect completion of time to this age? The eclipse appeared on the 21st day of August, 2017 on the Gregorian calendar, 3 x 7 = 21; and, if we drop the zero in 2017 we’re left with “217” or “21” and “7”. The number “21” in the Bible symbolizes the great wickedness of rebellion and sin. There are 21 judgments listed in the book of Revelation, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, and 7 bowls of wrath.

There were 7 cities in the U.S.A. named Salem in the path of the Eclipse : Salem, Oregon; Salem, Idaho; Salem, WY; Salem, NE; Salem, MO; Salem KY; and Salem, SC. Incredibly, the sun set in Jerusalem at the exact same time that the Eclipse began in Salem, Oregon! The name “Salem” refers to Jerusalem as evidenced in Psalm 76:2 which uses it as a parallel for “Zion”, the citadel of Jerusalem. Consider that that even the abbreviation “U.S.A.” is located directly in the center of the word “JerUSAlem”.

Two Celestial Signs Marking the year 2024:

(1) The April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse: The next total solar eclipse in the U.S.A. will arrive on April 8, 2024. Totality first touches Mexico, enters the United States at Texas,cuts a diagonal to Maine, and visits the maritime provinces of Canada.

(2) The Revelation 15 Sign: “And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them is filled up the wrath of God.” (Rev.15:1; KJV).

In this verse, the Apostle John mentions another “great” sign. What was the first one? The “great” wonder of The Sun-Clothed Woman (The Rev.12 Sign). It appears that these two epic celestial signs define and herald the beginning and endpoint of Daniel’s 70th Week. The very two constellations that comprise the Rev.12 Sign, Virgo and Leo, are the beginning and ending constellations of the Hebrew Mazzaroth (Zodiac).

Seven angels are about to pour out the vials of God’s wrath upon the earth (Rev.15:1), and on May 14, 2024, Israel’s 76th birthday, Jupiter crosses into Taurus (the Bull) by passing the boundary demarcated by the seven visible stars of Pleiades. A little over a week later, Jupiter and Venus enter into one of the closest conjunctions of the century- recalling to mind the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus in June of 2 BC that signaled the birth of Christ – the Star of Bethlehem. The Star of Bethlehem heralded Jesus’ first appearance on earth and now this conjunction may be heralding the nearness of His Second Coming.

In summary, there are two “parallel” sets of signs that appear to be indicating the end of this age; (1) The Rev.12 Sign, Sept.23, 2017, & The Rev.15 Sign, May 14, 2024. (2) The total solar eclipses over the U.S., Aug.21, 2017 & Apr.8, 2024. Both sets of signs are spaced nearly 7 years apart, underscoring or highlighting the years 2017 & 2024.
